I need a wiring Diagram for the ignition switch for a 1997 VW Jetta GL 2.0L 4cyl gas engine non turbo.  I am going Push Button Start, and just cannot find the damn diagram.  If anyone has access to one please send me a link or email it to me, or post it up.  Thanks guys!

Good luck.  A volt meter is first choice if you know how to use it.  Get a manual to see wiring diagram--19.95 in town.

DUMB QUESTION, WHY ARE YOU GOING TO A PUSH BUTTON START?

I got it hooked up.  I dont currently have access to a volt meter, it is about 45 minutes away from where I currently am.  I went push button because I dont feel like spending another $100 on this lemon to replace the ignition switch, yet I need to get the thing to start.  I tried to tap off the wires on the colum, but there was no real good accessable spot to do so, so I just used the good old way of running a wire from the battery to the switch to the selonoid and done.

Would it be possible to save some cash and hook up a pull start on the crank? I would think you could wrap some rope around the pulley and pull that thing over pretty easy...
