OBD2 Scan Tool via a Laptop
12/28/09 at 10:33:17

I found this tool on ebay and was wondering if anyone has used, seen used, or just heard any info on one of these.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ELM-327USB-OBD2-SCANNER-CODE-SCAN-TOOL-OBDII-OBD-...

They all seem to be from Hong Kong and for a pretty reasonable price.  I have been wanting a scan tool for a while as they make things so much easier, and I figured might as well make my computer one!  So if you know anything, just let me know!

Check this:

I'll be adding this to the stockpile of car stuff that just sits and collects dust in my house.

Just bought one, should arrive in like 2 weeks.  It has to come from China.  I will let everyone know how it is once I get it.

Got the scanner in today.  There is absolutely no user friendliness to this damn thing.  I cannot get the damn thing to link to my computer, and I know it's not the computer's onboard bluetooth acting up because my phone is linked to it.  I will keep playing with it and let you all know.

Got a new bluetooth reciever today, The scanner now pairs to computer, however the software is telling me that the vehicle is not supplying power to the scanner and that is where I get stuck now.  I will lwt you all know when I hear more from the supplier.

Tried it on the Aztek and the neighbors Trailblazer, so unless all the cars I try it on have the same problem, it is the scanner it's self.
