Urethane bushings

Would you go this route?

http://store.powerflexusa.com/shared/StoreFront/default.asp?CS=powerflex&StoreTy...

The 993 I bought has worn control arm bushings. Porsche does not sell the rubber bushings individually. The arms run $500 per side as new replacements. The above urethane kits appear to be the aftermarket option.

So would go with Urethane? Cost is going to be significantly cheaper, approximately $200 per arm vs $500. Or do think the car will always have the annoying creeks and moans of the Pantera?

Yeah, I think I've already talked myself out of it. I really don't want the whole creeking thing like the Pantera.

You know if people actually installed urethane bushings correctly they wouldnt make all the noise.  When I installed them in my WRX I greased the shit outta them and guess what.....no noise, just like the instructions said to do.  And then you get an incredible handling upgrade for less than the cost of stock.

Matt, the only problem with this is the bushing and grease are not in a sealed atmosphere. In time the grease will be pushed out and dried up and the bushing will then start to squeak again. That's why Alex is talking about a zerk fitting. How will you regrease the bushing when this happens.

The WRX remains quiet because your not driving it.

Yes Steve a zerk fitting would do the trick, but there is also a little thing called a press made to press in and out bushings in order to re-grease it, or 2 sockets and a bolt with two wrenches if a press is not available.
And yes the WRX doesnt move now, but it was one of the first mods I did to it when it did run and it remained squeak free for 4+ years, so who knows how long it really would've lasted.

So if I round up a set of these urethane bushings, you willing to help me install them this winter?

I actually have polyurethane in most aspects of my car. Isn't the worst thing but it does have some additional vibration.

There is usually a cost of performance other then what you pay such as noise, comfort, and reliability. But all those things are gay anyways Wink.

Just wanted to add that I've installed poly bushings in 4 Fieros (Cradle Bushings, Motor/Trans. Mounts, Lower C-Arms front and back, upper C-Arms front and back) and I've noticed a difference every time.

Well worth the work/effort/money to get these.

I have polygrahite. I am sure it squeaks but who can hear it?  Grin. For what you do with cars I would just put in some rubber.
