PS: Gene's motor seemed to run good, some headers, intake, carb, and away Kathy goes!

Here I agree...

Its going to be both show and a cruiser. Shorty headers and a performer intake. And more than likely edelbrock carb.

if we could afford a holley carb thats what i would put on there. but we have a edelbrock carb here. thats going to have to do for now.  Remember all you guys, im not building a fast race car. Im fixing this car up to drive every day and to cruise in and to put it in the car shows after its been painted. If the paint comes out good. Cool

Just because it's a Holley doesn't mean it's a race car. Just a better carb.

But whichever.

What headers?

Oh, you're going to use exhaust manifolds.

Should be a fun car.

Technically all headers are exhaust manifolds, but not all exhaust manifolds are headers... I think. lol

They are the same technically as they both do the same thing, just differently.

Headers decrease back pressure and increase the engine's efficiency with performance in mind (you don't really gain power from headers, you're finding horsepower lost through an inefficient exhaust). Exhaust manifolds are made just to remove the exhaust gases without or hardly any consideration for performance.

I hardly call factory exhaust manifolds headers IMHO. I may be wrong but its the way I see it.

Sure but isn't an exhaust header STILL a manifold for the exhaust system? Smiley

I think I already made my point. I don't really wish to have a discussion about it.

Plus: I already said that they are the same, just do things differently.

PS: Rethinking it: A header is a tubular exhaust manifold. An exhaust manifold is cast. Seems to be the more accepted definition. In the end we're both right, but there are differences.

Its a facorty headers from a 90 mustang gt. FACTORY HEADERS. this is not the 1st car we have put together. We have done about 8 other cars with motor swaps. And they all came out running good. So this one will come out fine.       Grin Smiley Cool

Actually, a stock 5.0 mustang exhaust manifold is a 1.5 inch tubular header.

If anyone is looking for a set, I have around 6 pairs laying around.

I guess when I was looking over a 302 at Jesse's shop during the summer I seen the above. Must've been a 302 out of a truck.

I never looked at a Mustang header before, so I do admit I was wrong from being naive and assuming.
